A 65-year-old man died after being swept away by flooded Simat stream in ward 5 of Bakaiya Rural Municipality, Makawanpur district, on Sunday.

Police identified the deceased as Aashakaji Dong. The victim was on his way to Gargare in the district to cash a bank cheque. 

The rain-swollen stream swept him while he attempted to wade across. His body was recovered around 700 metres downstream, said police.
