A man was arrested in Makwanpur on charge of murdering his own mother on Monday.

Milan Gamal of Thaha Municipality-10 was taken into police custody for allegedly killing his 50-year-old mother Gyanimaya Gamal following an altercation.

As per preliminary investigation, the incident occurred on March 12 after the 26-year-old allegedly strangled the victim with his hands while she was asleep, said Police Inspector Shyam Thapa.

However, Milan was taken into police custody only after the postmortem reports showed that the woman had been strangled.

The accused ‘admitted to committing the crime’ in his statement recorded by the police during investigation, Thapa added.
