Narayanghat-Mugling road section blocked yet again

The Narayanghat-Mugling road section which has been witnessing frequent disruptions for the past few days, has been blocked yet again following a landslide on Saturday night.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Bijaya Raj Pandit, spokesperson for Chitwan District Police Office, said the road section was blocked from 11:30pm following the mudslide.
Works to clear the debris started at 5am and it will take some hours to resume the highway, said Ramesh Prasad Poudel, chief of Bharatpur road division office.
The road section, one of the country’s busiest travel routes, was obstructed from 3am on Saturday after the mudslide near Tuinkhola. The traffic had resumed in the evening after the debris was cleared.
The highway which has been disrupted for the past four days, was closed for an hour following a landslide at 9am on Thursday. Traffic on the highway came to a grinding halt for 28 hours following a mudslide later in the afternoon.
Although the traffic along the road section resumed on Friday afternoon, the road once again came to a standstill as debris from a landslide blocked the section on Saturday morning.
Passengers travelling through the road section have been facing hardship due to frequent obstructions.
