Chitwan
Four complaints have been registered against Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane, who filed his candidacy in Chitwan-2 to contest a by-election scheduled for April 23, at the office of the chief election officer in Chitwan.
According to chief election officer Basudev Neupane, three different complaints were filed at the office by the candidates who filed their nomination in Chitwan-2 and their representatives on Tuesday.
Neupane said another complaint was received through e-mail from Kathmandu.
The complainants seek to cancel Lamichhane’s candidacy in Chitwan-2 claiming that one cannot contest the election before three months of acquiring a citizenship certificate by quitting citizenship of a foreign country.
