An elderly woman died in a wild elephant attack in Meghauli of Chitwan district on Saturday evening.
According to Chitwan District Police Office, 70-year-old Bhagirathi Subedi was seriously injured when she was attacked by the elephant at Bharatpur- 28 at around 8:30pm yesterday.
Subedi, who was rushed to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment, succumbed to injuries at around 10:45pm, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bijaya Raj Pandit, spokesperson of Chitwan District Police Office.
Locals in western Chitwan say wild elephants have troubled them for the past few days.
