Two people were killed and four others, including three minors, were injured when a bus hit two motorcycles near Churiyamai on the Pathlaiya-Hetauda road after its brakes failed.
The passenger bus, travelling from Janakpur to Kathmandu, suddenly lost its brakes and struck motorcycles, said Vijayraj Pandit, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Bara.
The deceased are 25-year-old Makeshwar Patel and 26-year-old Kavita Devi. Both died on the way to Kalaiya for treatment. Kavita’s husband, motorcycle rider Kanchan Kumar Patel, was injured.
The bus driver, 47-year-old Bishwanath Chaudhary from Lalbandi Municipality-3, Sarlahi, is in police custody.
