Two men died and another was seriously injured after a motorcycle crashed into a parked truck in Birgunj on Friday morning, police said.

The victims, identified as Ramakant Yadav, 23, and Vijay Yadav, 22, both residents of ward 3 in Chhipaharmai Rural Municipality, Parsa district, died while undergoing treatment at Narayani Hospital around 8am.

The crash occurred at around 5am at Sitaram Chowk along the Dry Port Road section in ward 22 of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

According to police, the motorcycle travelling towards the dry port from Sirsiya hit the rear of an Indian truck that was parked on the roadside.

Another pillion rider, identified as Vijay Kumar Yadav, 22, from the same locality, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kishor Lamsal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Parsa, said the truck driver fled the scene, and police are searching for him.
