Schools in Janakpur shut for two days due to extreme heat
Temperatures in Madhesh Province have risen steadily over the past week.

Schools in Janakpur have been closed for two days due to the ongoing heatwave that has gripped the region since last week.
According to Dhirendra Lal Karna, chief of the Education and Sports Development Section, the Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City has declared a holiday for Wednesday and Thursday, citing health concerns for children.
In addition, schools across Madhesh Province will remain closed on Wednesday due to a public holiday declared by the provincial government for Kabir Jayanti.
On Tuesday, 20 students at Ram Prasad Secondary School in ward 2 of Sabaila Municipality, Dhanusha, fainted in their classrooms due to extreme heat. Three of them were hospitalised, and all have since returned home after receiving treatment.
Following the incident, Sabaila Municipality also decided to close schools in the area.
Temperatures in Madhesh Province have been rising steadily over the past week. With scorching sun and dry winds from early morning, daily life has been severely affected. On Wednesday morning, Janakpur recorded a temperature above 34 degrees Celsius, while Tuesday’s maximum temperature reached 39 degrees.
