Police have arrested Siddhartha Tated, secretary of Rajbiraj-based Kantipur Multipurpose Cooperative, on charges of embezzlement in the cooperative.

According to police, he was arrested on Thursday based on a complaint registered by cooperative victims.

A group of 45 depositors filed a complaint at the District Police Office Saptari on August 4, 2023, against seven officials of the cooperative saying that the cooperative didn’t return their deposit. All the seven officials were at large.

Tated is also a ward member of Rajbiraj Municipality-3.

Victims have alleged that the co-operative has embezzled millions of rupees.

According to Saptari Police, Tated was arrested after the court issued an arrest warrant and the investigation will be done by extending his remand on Friday.
