An inferno has engulfed Mahadeva Rural Municipality-1 of Saptari district on Tuesday.

According to ward chair Jaya Kishor Das, the fire has already reduced over 200 homes to ashes.

Three fire engines, security personnel and locals are attempting to douse the fire.

Ward chair Das said the details of the damage are yet to be ascertained. Some livestock were also killed in the fire.
