A 40-year-old woman died after being attacked by a tiger in Malibasti of Thori Rural Municipality.
The body of Kalavati Khatri was recovered from a buffer zone of the Parsa National Park at around 4:50pm on Monday, said Police Inspector Santosh Rai.
Khatri had gone into the forest to collect fodder alone. She sustained injuries to the neck and several parts of her body in the attack, police said.
The body has been sent to the Narayani Hospital, Birgunj for postmortem.
According to Rai, Monday’s incident is a first as tigers have not been spotted in that area before.
