One person died after a bike and an SUV crashed in Ishworpur of Sarlahi district on Tuesday.

Forty-five-year-old Manoj Mahato had sustained serious injuries after a Scorpio jeep crashed into the bike he was riding. The injured was taken to a local hospital which referred him to a Bardibas-based hospital.

Mahato died in the Bardibas-based hospital.

The vehicle driver escaped from the accident site.

Although preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle belonged to the former Chandranagar Rural Municipality Chief Mahendra Mahato, further investigation into the matter is underway, police said.

Search for the absconding driver is underway.
