Thakur received 16,375 votes against his closest competitor Hari Narayan Yadav of the Janata Samajbadi Party who settled at 14,325 votes.

Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Chair Mahanta Thakur has been elected as the House of Representatives member from Mahottari-3.
As per the final results, Thakur received 16,375 votes against his closest competitor Hari Narayan Yadav of the Janata Samajbadi Party who settled at 14,325 votes.
Independent candidate Ram Aadhar Kapar garnered 12,733 votes.
