Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle landed in New Delhi, India, on Thursday for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Indian government, with post-disaster reconstruction and closer Nepal-India economic, political and diplomatic cooperation on his agenda.

Wagle’s visit comes as Nepal assesses the economic impact of recent disasters and plans reconstruction, while seeking to deepen ties with its southern neighbour. He departed Kathmandu on a 7:35am flight.

During the visit, Wagle is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart, Nirmala Sitharaman, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. He is due to meet Sitharaman on Thursday evening.

On Friday morning, Wagle will be the chief guest at a high-level diplomatic dialogue hosted by former Indian foreign secretary Shyam Saran. He will then meet Jaishankar.

Wagle will also attend a reception hosted on Friday evening by Jawed Ashraf, chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organisation.

On Saturday morning, Wagle will address a conference with Indian business leaders organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry.

He will later attend an academic discussion on development economics organised by the Delhi School of Economics, where he will serve as the chief guest.
