The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called a meeting of its central committee to deliberate on the selection of its parliamentary party leader and other contemporary issues.
Pratibha Rawal, the party’s co-spokesperson, said the meeting has been convened to discuss leadership of the parliamentary party alongside various internal matters.
Acting on the instruction of party chair Rabi Lamichhane, the meeting is scheduled to be held at the party’s central office on Thursday at 4:00 pm.
The meeting coincides with the day newly elected lawmakers are set to take the oath of office and secrecy.
The RSP is expected to formally elect senior leader Balendra Shah as the leader of its parliamentary party. The party had earlier announced its intention to propose Shah as its candidate for prime minister, and preparations are underway for him to be sworn in on March 27.
The RSP holds 182 seats in the House of Representatives.
