Balendra Shah seeks mandate to work, not just votes, in Sudurpashchim
The RSP senior leader says the issues of development and dignity of far west must reach the federal capital.Post Report
Rastriya Swatantra Party senior leader Balendra Shah, widely known as Balen, on Wednesday said his party is seeking an opportunity to deliver results in Sudurpashchim Province rather than merely collect votes.
Addressing an election gathering in Dhangadhi, the party’s candidate from Jhapa-5 argued that the concerns and identity of the far west must gain space in Kathmandu before meaningful change can follow.
He told voters that even if they choose not to back his party, they should hold it accountable by presenting clear priorities for development. The party, he said, would work in the region regardless of electoral outcomes.
Shah questioned the tendency to compare Nepal with countries such as Switzerland, saying Nepal already possesses natural and cultural wealth. Citing destinations like Ramaroshan and Khaptad National Park, he said the focus should be on unlocking domestic potential rather than chasing foreign models.
He also identified access to education, healthcare and timely infrastructure delivery as key priorities, noting that projects often remain incomplete for years beyond their deadlines.
Put forward by his party as a prime minister nominee, Shah kept his remarks brief, saying he preferred action over long speeches.
