Chief whips of major parties pledge collaboration for effective Parliament

The chief whips of four major political parties—Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), and Rastriya Swatantra Party—have agreed to work together to make the parliamentary meetings more productive.
The understanding was reached during a meeting held at Singha Durbar today, said UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula. The discussion centred on finding ways to expedite the legislative process, particularly the swift endorsement of pending bills.
“We discussed strategies for collaborative lawmaking and improving parliamentary functions. The talks also incorporated opposition parties’ views on various bills under consideration,” Bartaula said.
The leaders committed to ensuring the timely completion of legislative procedures, aiming to enhance Parliament’s credibility in lawmaking.
“The primary message of today’s meeting is that all parties must work in unison to uphold Parliament’s effectiveness and demonstrate excellence in lawmaking,” Bartaula added.
The meeting was attended by Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire, UML Chief Whip Bartaula, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey, and Rastriya Swatantra Party Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar.
