The four-party ruling coalition has decided to expel all the rebel candidates filing their nomination against the authentic candidates if they failed to withdraw their candidacy within the time stipulated by the Election Commission.
A meeting of the top leaders of the four parties in the coalition held at Baluwatar on Tuesday took this decision.
Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN (Unified Socialist) chair Madhav Kumar Nepal and Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Chitra Bahadur KC have signed the press statement issued after the meeting.
“We have directed all the members filing candidacy against the agreed candidates of our four parties to withdraw their candidacy on stipulated time,” states the press statement. “It is informed that those refusing to withdraw their candidacy within the 1 pm Wednesday–the time stipulated by the Election Commission, would be expelled by their concerned parties.”
A large number of party leaders have filed candidacy against the ‘authentic’ candidates of the ruling coalition as independent candidates after they could not get candidacy due to the electoral alliance.
