Dr KC to be hospitalised as health deteriorates
Doctors recommend immediate admission after his blood sugar and blood pressure levels fall sharply on third day of hunger strike.Ranjana BC
The health condition of Dr Govinda KC, who is on his 24th hunger strike in Dhangadhi, Kailali, has deteriorated, with preparations underway to admit him to hospital.
On the third day of his indefinite fast, doctors found that KC’s blood sugar level had dropped significantly to 50, while his blood pressure was also below normal, according to his aide Dr Amrit Jaisi.
Jaisi said healthcare workers have advised immediate hospitalisation, warning that critically low sugar and blood pressure levels could lead to further complications.
“He needs to be admitted for treatment and close monitoring,” Jaisi said.
KC is being taken to Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi for further medical care. Hospital authorities are arranging a bed, and he is expected to be admitted shortly, Jaisi added.
KC began his 24th hunger strike at Krishna Temple, demanding reforms in medical education and the health sector.
