Kapilvastu lifts prohibitory order after situation returns to normal
Restrictions imposed after clash in Maharajganj Municipality and surrounding areas withdrawn as security situation stabilises.Manoj Paudel
The local administration has lifted the prohibitory order imposed in various parts of the district, effective from 9am on Tuesday.
The order had been enforced after a dispute between two communities in Bargada village of ward 2 in Maharajganj Municipality on Saturday morning escalated into tension, prompting the District Administration Office to impose restrictions from 2pm the same day in several areas of the municipality.
As the situation gradually returned to normal, Assistant Chief District Officer Bhawishwar Ghimire said the order was withdrawn to ease daily life and maintain normal public movement.
Earlier, restrictions were also extended to parts of Kapilvastu Municipality, Mayadevi and Shuddhodhan rural municipalities, banning gatherings, assemblies, rallies and protests from Sunday at 1pm.
Following the March 21 incident in Bargada village, the southern parts of the district remained tense. Authorities said the situation has been gradually normalising since Monday evening, restoring public life.
