The Election Commission (EC) has formally closed two special election management centres established to facilitate the election of the lower house, stating that the voting and vote-counting processes have been completed.
Issuing a press release on Wednesday, the Commission said the Election Education and Information Centre (EEIC) and the Joint Election Operation Centre (JEOC) have been closed from March 11, in line with the Commission’s decision taken on March 10.
The EC had set up the EEIC on December 26, 2025, to ensure the effective dissemination of election-related information to media organisations, stakeholders and voters.
During its operation, the centre monitored and analysed election-related content published in the media and on social media platforms. According to the Commission, 998 pieces of “toxic information” — misleading or harmful content — were identified and forwarded to the relevant regulatory authority for further action.
The Commission said the centre also produced and disseminated voter education materials aimed at increasing awareness about the electoral process.
“704 voter education materials, including videos and posters, were produced and broadcast through various media platforms,” the Commission said in the statement.
In addition, the EEIC operated digital information systems, updated the Commission’s official platforms with election-related information, and distributed posters, leaflets and audio-visual materials to raise voter awareness.
The Commission said its Call Centre responded to 8,220 queries related to the voter list, voter education, the election code of conduct and the electoral process.
Meanwhile, the JEOC, established on January 25, coordinated closely with security agencies to ensure the safe distribution of election materials, effective election security management, monitoring of election activities and timely exchange of information among relevant authorities.
The Commission also expressed appreciation to institutions and personnel involved in the election process, including the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, as well as government bodies, media organisations and other stakeholders, for their support in successfully conducting the elections.
