In the House of Representatives election held on Thursday, Sudhan Gurung of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected from Gorkha-1.
Gurung defeated Prem Kumar Khatri of the Nepali Congress by 14,498 votes, securing 29,896 votes compared to Khatri’s 15,398 votes.
In third place, Hariraj Adhikari of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) received 11,124 votes, while Ramchandra Lamichhane of the CPN-UML secured 3,732 votes, according to the Election Commission.
Gorkha-1 has seen alternating victories: in 2008, 2013, and 2017, the then-Maoists won, while the Congress secured victory in 2022.
