Bishnu Bahadur Khadka of the Nepali Congress has been elected to the House of Representatives from Surkhet-1, defeating CPN-UML candidate Dhruba Bahadur Shahi.
Khadka secured 26,897 votes, while Shahi received 18,890 votes. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Tek Bahadur Singh Thakuri came third with 14,729 votes.
Other candidates included Jit Bahadur Rana of the Nepal Communist Party, who received 2,828 votes, and Rabi Hamal Thakuri of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, who secured 1,049 votes.
