Six-year-old girl dies in elephant’s attack

A six-year-old girl was killed when a wild elephant attacked and dismantled her family home at Dhakka camp of displaced people in ward 6 of Laljhadi Rural Municipality, Kanchanpur, on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Rejina Saud.
According to the District Police Office, the elephant emerging from Shuklaphanta National Park attacked while the family members were asleep.
The deceased and her 55-year-old grandmother sustained injuries as they attempted to run away.
“They were rushed to Nawajeevan Hospital in Dhangadhi where the girl succumbed to injuries,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Khadak Bahadur Khatri.
