The Panda Pack Project, supported by the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD), has distributed warm clothes to schoolchildren in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok, aiming to support students from marginalised communities during the winter season.
The programme covered all schools in wards 1 to 5 of the rural municipality, reaching a total of 29 schools. Students from early childhood development (ECD) level to Grade 5 received warm clothing packages containing a tracksuit, gloves, socks, a muffler and a cap. Distribution has been completed in several schools, while it is ongoing in others.
A formal distribution programme was held at Shree Marming Secondary School in ward 5, attended by CFRD Country Director Zou Zhiqiang. Representatives of the implementing organisation Global Cooperation for Development (GCD), school officials, ward representatives, municipal education officials, parents and beneficiary students were also present.

Speaking at the programme, Zou said CFRD has been supporting children’s education in Nepal through various initiatives, adding that the Panda Pack Project reflects the organisation’s commitment to improving learning conditions for children in remote and cold regions.
GCD Chairperson Mukti Marasini said the programme was the result of close coordination with the municipality and schools, and thanked CFRD, local governments and school communities for their support.
Binesh Kumar Shrestha, chief of the education department of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, welcomed the initiative, noting that many children in the area come from families struggling to meet basic needs. He said such programmes strengthen cooperation between local governments and development organisations.
The project has been positively received by schools and local communities, with school principals expressing gratitude for the support provided to students during the harsh winter.
