Smuggled Chinese goods seized in Sindhupalchok

Armed Police Force has seized a mini tipper carrying Chinese grocery items without bills or customs clearance documents in Bahrabise Bazar, ward 4 of Bahrabise Municipality.
According to Superintendent Achyut Kumar Majgaiyan of the Armed Police Force 16th Headquarters, the vehicle was stopped around 11:45pm on Monday while travelling from Tatopani to Khadichaur. During the check, officers found grocery goods worth an estimated Rs722,010.
The driver, 36-year-old Shivalal Tamang of ward 6, Mandre, Bahrabise, was taken into custody along with the vehicle. The tipper itself is valued at Rs1.5 million, bringing the total estimated value of the seized vehicle and goods to Rs2.22 million.
The seized items and vehicle have been handed over to the Tatopani Customs Office for further legal action, the Sindhupalchok District Police Office said.
