The commission investigating the September 8–9 Gen Z protests incidents has recorded the statement of Nepali Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel, along with four other army officials.
Commission spokesperson Bigyan Raj Sharma said that the panel questioned Sigdel on the incidents that took place during the two-day protests as well as related matters linked to the unrest and subsequent security lapses.
He added that all five officials who appeared before the commission have completed their statements.
The government formed a three-member probe commission led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki on September 21 to investigate the deaths and large-scale damage during the September protests. The panel has been recording statements from security officials and other individuals connected to the incidents as part of its inquiry.
The commission has already questioned a number of police officers deployed during the protests and has been conducting broader inquiries with people from different sectors.
The commission is mandated to submit its report within three months of its formation.
