Police have arrested a fugitive who escaped during the recent Gen Z protests in early September, recovering a weapon looted from a police office.
According to the Central Intelligence Bureau of Nepal Police, a gas gun marked “972 WK 68301 032189” was found inside a black bag placed on a plastic chair outside Solukhumbu Khaja Ghar, operated by Prabin Ghimire, at Lahure Tole, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–7, on October 30 evening.
Following investigations based on confidential information, police discovered that the bag had been kept there by 22-year-old Wangsu Lama, also known as Raja Tamang, originally from Mahabharat Rural Municipality-1, Kavrepalanchok, and currently residing in Gokarneshwar Municipality-3, Kathmandu. He was arrested near Maiti Nepal on October 31.

Police said that during a search of his rented room, three live cartridges—marked 9MM, 9X19, and 9X19 MFS—were also recovered. He has been handed over to the Kathmandu District Police Office for further investigation.
Authorities confirmed that Lama was imprisoned in Sundhara Jail for judicial custody on a charge of attempted murder and had escaped on September 9 during the Gen Z protest when thousands of inmates fled several prisons across the country.
