President Paudel to leave for Qatar on Monday
The President to address plenary and high-level meetings during World Social Development Summit.

President Ramchandra Paudel is set to leave for Qatar on Monday to attend the Second World Summit for Social Development, which will take place in Doha from November 4 to 6.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President is visiting the Gulf nation at the invitation of Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Amir of Qatar.
During the visit, President Paudel will address the plenary meetings and a high-level roundtable session of the summit on November 4. He is also scheduled to meet the Qatari Amir and hold bilateral talks on strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
On the sidelines of the summit, the President will meet several world leaders attending the event.
President Paudel will be accompanied by his spouse, Sabita Paudel; Communication Expert to the President Kiran Kumar Pokharel; the Secretary at the Office of the President; and other senior government officials.
The summit is being organised after 30 years. The first summit was held in Denmark in 1995. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari represented Nepal at the summit.
The Doha summit is being jointly organised by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the Government of Qatar.
According to UN DESA, the United Nations General Assembly, through resolutions 78/261 and 78/318, decided to convene the World Social Summit in 2025 under the title “Second World Summit for Social Development.” Convened at the level of heads of state or government, the summit aims to address the gaps and recommit to the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Programme of Action, and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
The summit will be held at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha from November 4-6, and pre-summit events on November 3, according to the organisers’ website.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on November 6.
