Inmate who escaped from Nawalparasi prison arrested in Palpa

An inmate who escaped from Nawalparasi prison during the Gen Z protests on September 9 was arrested in Palpa on Sunday.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hom Prakash Chaudhary, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Palpa, the arrested is 28-year-old Shyam Magar, also known as Samir Gurung, a resident of ward 21 in Pokhara Metropolitan City, Kaski. He was serving a sentence for a drug-related offence at Nawalparasi prison.
Police arrested him around 3am on Sunday in Prabhas in Palpa based on surveillance and a tip-off. The operation was led by a Police Head Constable from the Prabhas Police Post.
He was found hiding at his in-laws’ house in ward 10 of Tansen Municipality and has been sent to Palpa prison. Police said they have already arrested two other escapees in connection with the same incident.
