Birgunj
As the Chhath festival nears, devotion fills Madhesh, and Ghadiarwa Pokhari in Birgunj draws attention each year for its elaborate preparations.
The site is decorated with colourful flowers and lights, creating a striking night-time scene. The Ghadiarwa Chhath Puja Management Committee has allocated approximately Rs2.5 million for the arrangements. Committee vice-chair Atmaram Gupta said all preparations will be completed by Saturday night.
Ghadiarwa Pokhari, the main ritual site, has been cleaned and readied for thousands of devotees, with extra safety and sanitation measures in place.
