Nepali embassy in UAE urges Nepali workers to follow local laws
Advisory follows for Nepalis amid rising legal violations.
Post Report
The Nepali embassy in Abu Dhabi has urged Nepali workers in the United Arab Emirates to fully comply with local laws, regulations and social norms.
The embassy on Tuesday issued the advisory after reports of increased involvement of Nepalis in labour law violations, banking irregularities, social misconduct, cybercrime, traffic offences and misuse of visas. Nepalis are also warned to avoid behaviours that breach local laws.
The embassy highlighted 11 key points, including full compliance with labour laws, following traffic rules, behaving lawfully and honestly, avoiding fraud or contract breaches, refraining from inappropriate social media posts, not forming unauthorised groups and maintaining unity within the Nepali community.
The embassy warned that violating these rules could lead to legal action.
UAE remains a major employment destination for Nepalis, with about 800,000 currently residing there. Last year, 264,000 Nepalis went to the UAE for work.
