A massive landslide struck the Narayanghat–Muglin road near Tuiun Khola around 5pm on Tuesday, once again paralysing traffic on the busy highway.
According to Krishna Acharya, information officer and engineer at the Bharatpur Division Road Office, the latest slide was as large as the one that blocked the road last Friday. “A major collapse occurred in the evening, and at this point, it is impossible to say when the road will reopen,” Acharya said.
The highway had already been closed from 1pm on Tuesday due to continuous rockfall and dry landslides. Despite efforts to keep the section clear, debris has kept falling from the hillside.
The area has witnessed repeated blockages in recent days. On Friday evening, a landslide shut the road for 45 hours before a single lane was cleared on Sunday afternoon. Full two-way traffic resumed only on Monday evening, but intermittent rockfall continued.
Officials warned that the situation remains highly unstable, with travellers advised to avoid the section until further notice.
