The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested two American nationals who escaped from prisons while serving sentences in separate cases.
Michael Norman Taylor, 70, was serving a sentence at Kaski Prison for pedophilia, and Jason Lloyd Moody, 40, was imprisoned at Jagannath Dewal Prison in Kathmandu on rape charges.
Both escaped on September 9 and were tracked down based on a tip-off, said Deputy Superintendent Dharmaraj Bhandari, acting information officer at the CIB.
The CIB team arrested them on Monday from Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, and they are now in the process of being handed back to the respective prisons.
Based on a preliminary study, authorities said around 15,000 inmates fled prisons across the country on September 9 after the Gen Z protest caused unrest throughout the country.
