The Narayanghat-Muglin road, blocked since Friday evening by a landslide at Tuinkhola near Muglin, partially reopened on Sunday afternoon.
Arjun Ghimire, engineer at Bharatpur Division Road Office, said that traffic is currently being allowed in one direction at a time.
He explained that the immediate priority is to clear the hundreds of vehicles that have been stranded for two days, after which the road will reopen for two-way traffic.
“Drivers must strictly follow lane discipline, as there is still a risk of falling rocks in the affected area,” Ghimire said.
The landslide had left hundreds of passengers stuck along the highway, causing severe disruptions. Although clearance teams have removed much of the debris, officials warned that the slope above the road remains unstable.
Authorities added that while efforts are ongoing to stabilise the hillside, full resumption of traffic will depend on safety conditions in the coming days.
