Foundation expresses solidarity with Gen Z protests but clarifies it has not funded Hami Nepal or other groups.

The Barbara Foundation has expressed deep condolences to families of those killed in the recent Gen Z protests, while also voicing concern over the destruction of national property during the movement.
In a press note issued on Sunday, the foundation said it stood in solidarity with all those affected and saluted the “spirit, courage, and energy” of Nepal’s young generation. However, it strongly denied providing any financial support to Hami Nepal or other youth groups, clarifying that it is not legally permitted to extend such assistance.
“At a time when the country faces a sensitive and fragile situation, misleading reports have circulated associating our name with funding. These are baseless and deeply concerning,” the statement read.
The organisation further disclosed its financial records, noting it has received around Rs78.2 million over the past eight years, mainly from Nepali donors, with an annual budget of approximately Rs5 million. To date, it has spent Rs36.4 million on programmes and administration, and holds reserves of Rs39.5 million.
The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and urged the public not to be distracted by misinformation.
Founded by American citizen Barbara Adams, who made Nepal her lifelong home, the foundation focuses on promoting investigative journalism, heritage conservation, and public dialogue.
