Piplamod section of Nagdhunga–Naubise road partially closed for 15 days from today
Daytime traffic halted from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm until June 8 for blacktopping works
Post Report
The Piplamod section of the Nagdhunga–Naubise road will be closed to vehicular traffic from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm daily for 15 days starting Saturday, due to ongoing road improvement works.
According to Keshav Prasad Ojha, chief of the eastern section of the Nagdhunga–Muglin road project, the closure will facilitate blacktopping of a 1.8-kilometre stretch of the road, which had previously been stripped of its old surface during night-time works carried out from May 5 to May 14.
Ojha said the earlier works involved removing the old asphalt between 11:00 pm and 3:00 am to minimise disruption. “We now need uninterrupted daytime hours to lay gravel and prepare the base, with the aim of completing the resurfacing within this 15-day period,” he said. “If weather conditions are favourable, the blacktopping will be finished by the deadline.”
Vehicles will be held at Khanikhola during the restricted hours to allow the work to proceed smoothly.
The project has advised the use of alternative routes during the closure. For small and medium-sized vehicles, recommended detours include the Sitapaila–Ramkot–Dharke road and the Samakhusi–Tokha–Chhahare–Trishuli (Bidur)–Galchhi route.
Emergency and essential service vehicles such as ambulances will be permitted to use the closed section throughout the period.
