India hands over electric vehicles to Nepal for Sagarmatha Sambad

India has handed over 15 electric vehicles to Nepal to support the first edition of the Sagarmatha Sambad, which is scheduled for May 16 to 18 in Kathmandu.
During a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava handed over the vehicles to Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba. The vehicles were provided under the Nepal-India cooperation programme.
Thanking the Indian government, Minister Deuba said the support would contribute to the success of the Sagarmatha Sambad. She highlighted climate change as a shared challenge for the entire region and stressed the need for collective efforts and regional coordination to address it.
She said the Sagarmatha Sambad, Nepal’s flagship event, aims to create a collaborative model to address climate-related issues and that India’s contribution is significant in this regard.
She also informed that preparations for the event were in the final stage and that Nepal was ready to welcome high-level dignitaries and guests.
Ambassador Srivastava expressed happiness in supporting the event and said India remained committed to assisting Nepal in its economic and social development.
He added that climate change is a common challenge in the region and reiterated India’s support in tackling it with Nepal.
