Narayanghat–Butwal road blocked at Daunne after rainfall
All vehicular movement suspended due to safety concerns, police say.
Post Report
Traffic along the Narayanghat–Butwal road section at Daunne came to a standstill on Tuesday after rainfall made parts of the under-construction highway muddy and impassable.
The disruption occurred near Bishwakarma Temple and a bend in ward 2 of Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality, where the road surface turned dangerously slippery, RSS reported, quoting the District Traffic Police Office.
“All vehicular movement has been suspended due to safety concerns,” said Police Inspector Janakraj Banjara, head of the district traffic office. “Once the rain subsides, a bulldozer will be deployed to clear the mud and restore traffic.”
The Daunne section is part of a larger project to upgrade the Narayanghat–Butwal highway to four lanes. However, even light rainfall frequently renders the road unusable, causing regular traffic disruptions. Authorities say they aim to complete most of the construction by mid-July.
Daily commuters and long-distance travellers have faced repeated delays, with locals raising concerns over poor traffic management and inadequate maintenance during the ongoing works.
