Government’s policies and programmes for next fiscal to be presented on May 2

The government is set to unveil its policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year 2025–26 on May 2.
President Ramchandra Paudel will present the document before a joint session of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, according to Mahesh Bartaula, chief whip of the ruling CPN-UML.
Ekram Giri, spokesperson for the Federal Parliament Secretariat, confirmed that preparations are underway to present the policies and programmes on May 2. Lawmakers will be given 48 hours to file amendment proposals following the presentation, Giri said.
The Parliament has scheduled the endorsement of the document before May 11, allowing time for pre-budget discussions. These discussions will help provide suggestions to the Finance Ministry ahead of the budget announcement.
The Constitution requires the annual budget to be presented on Jestha 15 (May 29 this year).
The federal parliament’s budget session is scheduled to begin at 1 pm on Friday.
