Court extends remand of 41, including RPP leaders Mishra and Rana, for six days
Police arrested the Rastriya Prajatantra Party leaders on charges of their involvement in the Tinkune protest.

Kathmandu District Court has extended the remand of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice-chairman Rabindra Mishra and General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana, along with 39 others, for six more days for further investigation into their involvement in last Friday’s violent protests.
Judge Dhakaram Poudel issued the order on Wednesday, permitting authorities to keep them in custody for additional investigation under charges related to offences against the state, criminal disturbance, and organised crime. Registrar Tirtharaj Bhattarai informed that those arrested on Tuesday have been remanded for seven days.
Initially, the court had allowed five days of detention for those arrested after violent pro-monarchy protests on Friday. Among them, 11 individuals, including Mishra and Rana, are being investigated under state offence laws, while the remaining suspects face charges of criminal disturbance and organised crime.
Among others arrested in the same incident include Durga Prasai’s aide Manindra Rajbhandari from Lamjung and Gopal Malla from Rupandehi, among others.
Police confirmed that 112 people were initially arrested following the protests, with 81 including Swagat Nepal, spokesperson of Friday’s protest programme, released after preliminary questioning.
The pro-monarchy protest at Tinkune turned violent, resulting in two deaths and injuries to 129 people, including 55 police personnel, 22 armed police officers, and 52 protesters. Among them, six police officers, one armed police officer, and 17 protesters remain hospitalised.
