Former president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), Ganesh Thapa, has filed a defamation case against the ANFA general secretary, Kiran Rai, at the Kathmandu District Court on Tuesday. Prior to this, Thapa had also lodged a complaint against Rai at the Cyber Bureau.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, Thapa accused Rai of making baseless and false allegations, leading him to pursue legal action through the court.
“General secretary Kiran Rai has attempted to defame me by accusing me of embezzling ANFA’s Rs170 million, and later, after an investigation into asset laundering, claiming that I deposited Rs80 million into ANFA's account. These are unfounded allegations aimed at assassinating my character,” the former head of the football governing body in Nepal said.
