President Ramchandra Paudel has summoned the winter session of the federal Parliament on January 31.
The session has been called at 1pm according to Article 93 (1) of the constitution, informed the Office of the President on Tuesday.
A Cabinet meeting held on Monday had decided to write to the President to summon the session.
Opposition parties had been pressuring the government to call a session immediately and warned of demanding a special session if the delay continued. They had criticised the government for avoiding parliamentary discussions and introducing ordinances without proper legislative scrutiny. The government brought five ordinances earlier this month and one more ordinance on cooperatives in the last week of December.
The last session of Parliament, the monsoon session, ended on September 16.
