President Ramchandra Paudel has approved the deployment of Nepali Army to ensure security during the by-elections scheduled for December 1.
Acting on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers made on November 21, President Paudel granted approval on Sunday to deploy the army, aiming to conduct the elections safely, impartially, fearlessly, and peacefully.
According to Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Office of the President, the approval was made in accordance with the Article 66 (2) of the Constitution following a recommendation by the Prime Minister on November 21.
The Election Commission has scheduled by-elections to fill 41 vacant positions for December 1.
