Two including police officer killed, five injured as vehicle carrying poll logistics crashes

A vehicle carrying election materials and staff crashed in ward 2 of Ramechhap Municipality on Monday, killing two people, including a police officer and a presiding officer.
According to the District Police Office in Ramechhap, police sub-inspector RP Yadav died on the spot. His permanent address is yet to be confirmed. Dor Prasad Ghimire, the presiding officer at Sagutar ward office polling centre in Ramchhap, died while undergoing treatment in the local hospital.
Three passengers, including Rabiraj Khadka, the polling officer at Shitaladevi Secondary School polling centre in ward 2 of Ramechhap Municipality, survived by jumping from the vehicle before it veered off a cliff.
The vehicle was heading towards Shitaladevi polling centre in ward 2 and Sagutar ward office polling centre in ward 3, transporting ballot materials and election staff, when it crashed.
Police said the terrain is steep and difficult. Police Inspector Rajan Prasad Timsina said further details about the incident are awaited as rescue and investigation efforts continue.
