Prime Minister Oli returns home after attending UN General Assembly
He held several high-level meetings with heads of government and other leaders from various countries on the UNGA sidelines.Post Report
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who had left for New York on September 20, returned to Nepal on Monday afternoon after attending the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Prime Minister Oli was welcomed by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Chairperson of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal, deputy prime ministers Prakash Man Singh and Bishnu Prasad Paudel along with other ministers, senior government officials, and heads of security agencies.
Prime Minister Oli led the Nepali delegation to the UN General Assembly. During his time in the United States, Oli addressed the General Assembly on September 26, highlighting Nepal's commitment to global peace, sustainable development, and human dignity. This year’s General Assembly focused on the theme “No One Left Behind: Working Together for Peace, Sustainable Development, and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations.”
In addition to attending the opening session of the General Debate and a reception hosted by US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Oli participated in several high-level meetings, including a conference on Least Developed Countries and a session on antimicrobial resistance.
During his visit, the prime minister held bilateral talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other leaders from various countries.
Oli was accompanied by his spouse, Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, his Chief Adviser Bishnu Prasad Rimal, and Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, along with other senior officials.
