The Nepali Embassy in Canada has cautioned students preparing to study in Canada about the opportunities and challenges they might encounter there.
Citing that students might feel they faced “unprecedented hardship” if they were initially lured by tempting stories, the embassy urged students to be cautious.
“Take time to research the opportunities and hardships you are likely to encounter in the new country before making it your destination,” read the statement issued by the embassy.
The embassy suggested that students would encounter fewer problems if they conducted adequate research and gathered detailed information about their college, the subject they wish to study, the costs involved, and the location of the college before applying.
Before making Canada their study destination, all are advised to obtain enough information from relatives, friends, peers, former students, social media networks, non-resident Nepali associations in the respective cities, and Nepali diaspora organisations about the college, its location, the method of study, expenses, availability of housing, and employment opportunities, the embassy added.
