The meeting of the House of Representatives, scheduled for Friday, has been postponed to Sunday.
General Secretary of the parliament secretariat Padma Prasad Pandey issued a notice to notify the lawmakers about the deferral of the meeting.
Earlier, Speaker Devraj Ghimire had delayed the lower house meeting called for 11 am to 2 pm citing a lack of preparation.
Main opposition Nepali Congress had demanded that the proceedings be rescheduled to Sunday.
Following a discussion between Ghimire and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the meeting was deferred with plans to put more effort to forge an agreement with the political parties before continuing with the proceedings.
The next meeting has been scheduled for 11 am on May 19.
Congress lawmakers have been obstructing the proceedings of both lower and upper houses demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee to probe Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane in alleged embezzlement of cooperatives funds.
On Thursday, the parliamentary meeting took an unexpected turn as ruling and opposition lawmakers engaged in a scuffle after the Speaker allowed Minister Lamichhane to go to the rostrum and address the meeting.
The meeting of the National Assembly, held earlier in the day, was also adjourned until 1 pm Sunday after obstructions from lawmakers from the main opposition Nepali Congress.
