Nepali envoy to Italy Subedi presents credentials
The Italian President underscores need for promoting economic cooperation and enhancing people-to-people relations between two countries.Post Report
Non-resident Nepali Ambassador to Italy Ram Prasad Subedi on Tuesday presented his letter of credence to Italian President Sergio Mattarella at Quirinale Palace in Rome.
The ambassador was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour upon his arrival at the palace, the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the UN, Geneva said in a statement.
Following the ceremony, Ambassador Subedi conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to Italian President Sergio Mattarella, wishing him personal health and happiness, along with continued peace and prosperity for the people of Italy.
According to the embassy, Ambassador Subedi emphasised the necessity of strengthening cooperation in various sectors including trade, tourism, investment, education, culture and people-to-people relations. He also highlighted the significance of high-level visits to enhance bilateral relations.
The ambassador briefed the President about the political, social, and economic developments in Nepal, as well as the priorities of the present government.
The Italian President congratulated Subedi on his accreditation and assured him of the government's full support.
The President noted that both countries share civilizational and cultural commonalities and emphasised the need to promote economic cooperation and enhance people-to-people relations.
Ambassador Subedi then met with Riccardo Guariglia, secretary general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at Farnesina Palace in Rome in the evening.
They exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral relations, including holding the meeting of the bilateral consultation mechanism, enhancing economic cooperation, deepening cultural exchanges, and promoting people-to-people exchanges, as stated by the embassy.
