Parliamentary committee concludes hearing of justice nominees
The House committee calls a meeting for Wednesday to decide on endorsement.

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the federal parliament on Monday concluded the hearing of six Supreme Court justice nominees.
The House panel conducted a hearing of Sunil Kumar Pokharel and Balkrishna Dhakal on Monday; Mahesh Sharma Poudel and Tek Prasad Dhungana on Sunday and Sharanga Subedi and Abdul Ajit Musalman on Friday.
A meeting of the hearing committee, a joint panel of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, has been called for Wednesday to decide whether to endorse the names. Earlier, the committee used to endorse names immediately after the conclusion of the hearing.
On November 25, the committee sought public complaints against six justices recommended for the Supreme Court.
A meeting of the Judicial Council led by Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha on November 21 picked four candidates from among high court judges and two practising lawyers as justices at the apex court.
Article 292 of the constitution requires the chief justice, justices, and those nominated to constitutional commissions and ambassadorial posts to pass parliamentary hearings before they take the oath of the positions. President Ramchandra Paudel will appoint the justices if they get through the hearing process.
